Moon phases
The lunar calendar follows the Moon as it cycles through its phases and travels through the twelve zodiac signs. For centuries people have timed haircuts, gardening, housework and self-care by these rhythms.
New Moon
The Moon stands between Earth and Sun and its night side faces us. A moment of reset — traditionally the best time to start fresh, set intentions and plan.
Waxing Crescent
A thin crescent grows after the new moon. Energy slowly builds; a good time to begin projects and nourish body and hair.
First Quarter Current phase
Half of the Moon is lit and growing. Momentum peaks — push projects forward and act on decisions.
Waxing Gibbous
The Moon is almost full. Finish and refine what you started; absorption and growth are traditionally at their strongest.
Full Moon
The full Moon faces the Sun and shines all night. Emotions and energy culminate — harvest, celebrate, but keep a cool head and good sleep.
Waning Gibbous
Light slowly recedes. Time to release, declutter and let go of what no longer serves you.
Last Quarter
Half lit and shrinking. Review, correct course and close open loops.
Waning Crescent
The last sliver before the new moon. Rest, recover and prepare quietly for the next cycle.
